On September 14, 2026, the 13th Cameroonian contingent of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) set off for Bangui, maintaining Cameroon’s commitment to peace in the Central African Republic.

The flag handover ceremony took place at the Peacekeeping Operations Training School in Motcheboum, Doumé district, Haut-Nyong department, East region. It was Lieutenant Colonel Ewang Mesape Young, contingent commander, who received the flag from the hands of the Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Defense, Joseph Beti Assomo.

Facing the Cameroonian Blue Helmets, Joseph Beti Assomo was clear: “The Head of State, Commander of the Armed Forces, has personally ensured the provision of appropriate logistical means for your contingent, intended to improve your living and working conditions and to sustainably strengthen your operational capabilities.” The Minister of Defense also warned the soldiers. They will operate in a complex environment where part of the local population has a mixed opinion of the actions of international forces for the return to lasting peace in the CAR.

Hence his firm instructions: “In any case, your conduct must remain exemplary. Be disciplined. Be united, focused on your objectives. Be vigilant and remain impervious to any form of provocation. Let each of your actions be guided by the rules of engagement, international humanitarian law, mission directives, and high ethical standards,” he stressed.
