The ambition to accelerate the transformation of resources into concrete actions on the ground was expressed on August 31, 2026, during the 2nd session of the steering committee (Copil) of the Special Reconstruction and Development Program of the Far North (Psrdren).
Assessment and prospects, these are the main points on the agenda of the exchanges during the 2nd session of the Copil yesterday Monday in Yaoundé. The chairman of the committee, Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey, government members as well as other actors present discussed the two aspects by setting priorities in a work plan adopted to guide future actions.

Indeed, according to the report from Œil du Sahel, the 2025 exercise report already shows the result of fund mobilization. The committee declares 800 billion FCFA of funds already mobilized. Between the first session of the committee and the second session, the funds already mobilized increased by 200 billion, rising from 600 billion to 800 billion FCFA. The budget execution rate is 63% and the contract award rate is 88%. The current challenge is to transform the mobilized financial resources into concrete actions.
2025 Exercise Report
The activities of the 2025 exercise have already begun some achievements as shown by the presented report. The internal resources of the Program have already allowed the launch of certain projects. This includes the construction of a drinking water addition at the National Higher Polytechnic School of Maroua Sekandé campus. The construction of five integrated health centers equipped with on-call housing, solar boreholes, and fences. The ongoing construction of seven primary schools with complete kits. The acquisition and distribution of 10,000 school desks-benches and office furniture for schools. The provision of inputs and small equipment to cooperatives and producer organizations in the six departments of the region. The ongoing completion of the building intended for the governor’s services.
The Reconstruction Program also supports the project to improve connectivity, resilience, and inclusion along the Mora-Dabanga-Koisseri corridor, valued at 236 billion FCFA, the implementation of the Territorial Development Program valued at 157 billion FCFA, the Human Capital Development Program to build capacities and skills for employability and entrepreneurship in the Far North region, financed to the tune of 89.2 billion FCFA by the African Development Bank over the 2025-2026 period.

Planned Actions in 2026
In 2026, the committee announces an acceleration of achievements by removing obstacles. It will thus be a question of supporting irrigation, agricultural value chains, and socio-economic infrastructures. A budget of 26.61 billion FCFA has been set with the support of the AfDB for this project. It will also involve the implementation of the Agro-industry Development Program in the North. Valued at 81.2 million euros, or about 53 billion FCFA, it will strengthen water availability through the construction and rehabilitation of hydraulic works, the development of irrigated perimeters, and the development of pastoral infrastructures.
Beyond these initiatives are also the Viva Logone costing 120 billion FCFA, the Prolac with a budget of 30 billion, the bridge project to connect Yagoua and Bongor estimated at 30 billion FCFA, and the urban C2D project “regional capitals.” The program thus enters the intensive phase of concretizing the defined projects.
