
July 2026, the participation rate of Treasury Securities Specialists in Cameroon’s Treasury Bills fell to 18.98% compared to the Cemac average of 20.1%, its lowest since 2023. The country has 22 approved SVTs but only serves 6.97% interest, compared to 7.87% in Equatorial Guinea and 7.24% in Congo.

According to BEAC, in July 2026, the participation rate of SVTs in Cameroon’s Treasury Bills was 18.98%, below the overall average of 20.1%. This is a first since 2023. For comparison, this indicator was 23.8% in July 2023, 26.3% in July 2024, and 23.3% in July 2025.

As a result, Cameroon becomes the 2nd least attractive country in the community for Treasury Bills, just ahead of Gabon at 16.2%, despite having the largest network with 22 approved SVTs. Far ahead, Equatorial Guinea peaks at 41.6%, followed by the Central African Republic at 25% and Congo at 23.3%.
BEAC does not comment on this decline, but the rate differential is telling. In July, Cameroon served 6.97% on its Treasury Bills, compared to 7.87% for Equatorial Guinea and 7.24% for Congo.
