Cameroon/ Nachtigal: 300 million FCFA from NHPC to train the youth

The MINEFOP and Nachtigal Hydro Power Company signed Amendment No. 1 to their agreement on September 14, 2026, in Yaoundé. NHPC’s total investment for training young people in the Nachtigal area now reaches 300 million FCFA, intended for the Ntri training center.

The Nachtigal dam serving youth employment. The Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training (MINEFOP) and Nachtigal Hydro Power Company (NHPC) signed Amendment No. 1 to their partnership agreement on September 14, 2026, in Yaoundé.
This act marks the strengthening of NHPC’s commitment to developing local skills in the hydroelectric project impact area. Thanks to an additional financial contribution, the company’s total investment now reaches 300 million CFA francs.
These funds are intended for the operation and enhancement of the Ntri (Balan Bonjock) training center. The facility aims to sustainably train and integrate local youth into three priority sectors: automotive mechanics, woodworking trades, and the clothing industry.
Through this agreement, the Government and NHPC reaffirm their shared ambition to transform major infrastructure projects into a lever for empowerment and local economic development for Cameroonian youth.
