
From September 14 to 16, 2026, the North hosts the 10 regions as part of the 6th general assembly of the Association of Regions of Cameroon. The work aims, among other things, to strengthen regional initiatives in decentralization.
Announced by a statement dated September 8, 2026, signed by the association’s president Gilbert Tsimi Evouna, the sixth General Assembly of the Association of Regions of Cameroon (ARC) is held in Garoua, coupled with a consultation with the Ministry of Decentralization and Local Development (Minddevel).

The stated objective is to consolidate regional action, strengthen institutional dialogue, and provide concerted responses to the challenges that still mark the implementation of decentralization. The ARC also intends to update its roadmap and give new momentum to interregional cooperation.
A strong mobilization marked the launch of the work. On Monday, September 14, Garoua was vibrant. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Minister George Elanga Obam, Governor of the North Jean Abaté Edi’i, Prefect of Bénoué Oumarou Haman Wabi, representative of the Director General of Feicom, president of the Association of United Communes and Cities of Cameroon, Augustin Tamba.

After the opening, the 10 presidents of the Regional Councils began their work. On the agenda: review of the agenda, territorial development, and strengthening the action of decentralized local authorities. The work continues until Wednesday, September 16. The ARC, the showcase of the regions, wants a more coherent and effective territorial action in the service of Cameroon’s development.
