The Ministry of Defense is engaging in a modernization dynamic by signing conventions with three companies to strengthen national industrial and operational capacities.

The conference room of the Ministry of Defense served as the setting, on April 8, 2026, for the signing of three partnership conventions between the Mindef and major industrial players: SOTRABUS, Cameroon International Business (CIB) and Accenture Technologies. The ceremony, presided over by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense, brought together high-ranking civil and military figures.
In the opening, the Director of Joint Materials, Colonel Ondanga Japhet Sylvain, presented the projects. The first concerns the production of tactical armored vehicles complying with international standards, in order to strengthen the security of the forces engaged. The second aims at setting up a mechanical parts manufacturing plant, intended to improve the maintenance of military equipment. The third concerns the local production of helmets and bulletproof vests, contributing to the country’s strategic autonomy.
In his speech, the Mindef hailed a major step forward towards building a national defense industry, based on technology transfer and the development of local skills. He called on stakeholders to show rigor and professionalism to ensure the success of these projects.
These agreements thus pave the way for sustainable cooperation between the State and the private sector, in the service of Cameroon’s security and economic development.
