The Cameroonian sky is under control. The Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLE BIBEHE, chaired on August 21, 2026, at the headquarters of the Aeronautical Authority, the first ordinary session of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee (CNS) for the year 2026.

A strategic session held in a context of strong pressure. The country has indeed experienced an intensification of air activity with three major events: the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference, the historic visit of Pope Leo XIV, and the Hajj 2026 operations. These events caused a significant increase in traffic at the Yaoundé-Nsimalen, Douala, Garoua, and Maroua platforms.
In his speech, the Minister of Transport praised the performance of the system: no major incidents were recorded despite the influx of passengers and dignitaries. A result he attributes to the professionalism and good coordination of the security chain.

At the center of discussions were the advances made thanks to the Transport Sector Development Project (PDST), supported by the World Bank. The Minister detailed significant investments: Emergency Operations Control Centers, security fences, video surveillance, access control, and modernized patrol roads.
These efforts are bearing fruit. The national system’s compliance level with ICAO standards rose from 63.38% in 2015 to 78% during the last audit in 2023.
For the government, security remains a permanent priority. Objective: to consolidate achievements, address vulnerabilities, and best prepare for the next international audit to ensure the protection of passengers and infrastructure.
