Cameroon is positioning itself in green aviation. The Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and with the support of the European Union, launched on August 31, 2026, a feasibility study dedicated to sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).

The study aims to assess available resources, suitable technologies, and the necessary conditions for developing a national production and use sector for SAF. It must also analyze the economic impacts: job creation, valorization of local resources, and reduction of emissions from air transport.
The schedule is set: after two days of exchanges between experts and stakeholders, field surveys will be conducted for ten days with industrial, agricultural actors and the relevant infrastructures.

The conclusions, expected in six months, will allow the development of a roadmap compliant with ICAO standards. A strategic step to align Cameroon’s air transport with international climate commitments while creating local value.
