High cost of living: SEMRY lowers its rice prices in Maroua by up to 5,000 FCFA

SEMRY announced on August 6, 2026, a price reduction for its rice in Maroua. The 25 kg luxury bag goes from 13,000 FCFA to 10,500 FCFA, and the 50 kg merchant bag from 21,000 FCFA to 16,000 FCFA. The goal is to support households and prepare for the school year.

Boost to purchasing power in the Far North. Faced with the high cost of living, the SOCIETY FOR THE EXPANSION AND MODERNIZATION OF RICE CULTIVATION OF YAGOUA, SEMRY, has decided to lower its prices.
In a statement signed on August 6, 2026, in Yagoua by General Director FISSOU KOUMA, it announces “within the limits of available stocks, the reduction of its rice prices on the market”.

The new prices, applicable in Maroua, are as follows:
– 25 kg luxury rice bag 05%: 10,500 FCFA, instead of 13,000 FCFA, a reduction of 2,500 FCFA



– 50 kg merchant rice bag 25%: 16,000 FCFA, instead of 21,000 FCFA, a reduction of 5,000 FCFA

– 25 kg merchant rice bag 25%: 8,000 FCFA, instead of 11,000 FCFA, a reduction of 3,000 FCFA

For SEMRY, this measure “is in line with the overall objective pursued […] to provide Cameroonians with a high-quality product accessible to the greatest number”.
It mainly aims “to support households during this lean period, to enable them to better prepare for the upcoming school year”.

The company recalls that “due to its organoleptic qualities, SEMRY rice is by far the best currently on the Cameroonian market”.
