Cameroon and the Islamic Development Bank accelerate. The Minister of Finance Louis Paul MOTAZE received a delegation from the IDB on August 11, 2026. On the agenda: the organization in September of the IDB Group Day and the Forum on the Country Engagement Framework which will set the financing priorities for the next 3 years.
The partnership between Cameroon and the Islamic Development Bank is entering a new phase. On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul MOTAZE, received a delegation from the IDB led by Mr. Oussema TRIGUI, Head of Country Operations. At the heart of the discussions was the preparation of two major events scheduled in Cameroon in September 2026.

First highlight: The IDB Group Day
Dedicated to Cameroonian public and private actors, this day aims to present all the products and services of the IDB. Project financing, guarantees, support for the private sector: the institution intends to expand its visibility and facilitate the Cameroonian economy’s access to its instruments.
Second highlight: The Forum on the Country Engagement Framework
Even more strategic, this forum will define the main directions of the IDB’s interventions in Cameroon for the next 3 years. A reference document that will align the bank’s financing with national priorities: infrastructure, agriculture, health, energy, and financial inclusion.
“The Minister welcomed these initiatives and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening the partnership with the IDB, in the service of Cameroon’s development,” states the official communiqué.

For Yaoundé, the challenge is twofold. First, to mobilize more concessional resources to support the National Development Plan. Then to diversify funding sources, beyond traditional donors, by betting on Islamic finance.
The IDB is already active in Cameroon in the sectors of agriculture, road infrastructure, and health. With this new engagement framework, both parties want to give more scope and coherence to cooperation.
So, see you in September to make it happen. Cameroon wants to turn these meetings into a concrete investment lever.
