A mission to Italy, conducted from 28 February to 14 March 2026, marks a decisive turning point in the relaunch of the 10 000 housing units program in Yaoundé, with major industrial, financial and diplomatic progress.
A press release made public on 27 March 2026 reports that the Director General of the Cameroon Real Estate Corporation (SIC) took part in a high-level mission to Italy, in accordance with instructions from the Head of State. Alongside several Cameroonian administrations and institutional partners, this delegation worked to secure the completion of the 10 000 housing units project in Yaoundé, conducted with the company Impresa Pizzarotti.
On the ground, industrial visits made it possible to measure the solidity of the partners involved. In Piacenza, heavy truck production capacities were deemed sufficient to honor ongoing deliveries. In Catania, the future concrete plant destined for the Nkolmeyos site confirms the ambition to industrialize housing construction in Cameroon.
Key moment of the mission: in Parma, a memorandum of understanding was signed with Pizzarotti. It puts an end to past disputes, sets a new financial framework with monthly disbursements estimated at 1,6 billion FCFA and provides for an acceleration of the work.
In Rome, exchanges with financial partners resulted in an agreement to extend the financing period by 24 months. A decision that acknowledges the progress made, with the project’s execution rate having increased from 6 % to over 36 % in three years.
Beyond the numbers, this mission repositions the project within a broader dynamic, in connection with the Mattei Plan for Africa. The SIC thus intends to make housing a lever for industrialization, with the ambition of producing 50 000 homes by 2040 and structuring a true regional sector.
