
The Director General of the Yaoundé University Teaching Hospital is toughening his stance against all forms of discrimination and organization based on identity affiliation within the establishment.
In a decision made public on March 16, 2026, the management of the Yaoundé University Teaching Hospital marks a clear turning point in terms of internal cohesion and professional ethics. From now on, any associative activity or grouping based on tribal, ethnic, religious, linguistic, or political criteria is strictly prohibited within the institution.
Through this measure, the administration intends to preserve a work environment based on equality, mutual respect, and neutrality. The hospital, a space for care and public service, cannot tolerate dynamics likely to fragment staff or alter the quality of patient care.
The text also emphasizes the individual responsibility of each agent. Any discriminatory behavior towards a patient, a colleague, or a user, motivated by identity affiliation, is classified as serious professional misconduct. Such actions expose their authors to disciplinary sanctions that can go as far as a referral to the Disciplinary Council or the competent professional bodies.
Entering into force upon its signature, this decision will be widely disseminated within the establishment. It is part of a stated desire to strengthen hospital ethics and guarantee an inclusive framework, in line with the missions of the Yaoundé UTH.
