Youth Connekt Cameroon: the private sector called to amplify phase 2

In Douala on September 10, 2026, Minister Mounouna Foutsou mobilized the private sector for phase 2 of the joint Government-UN program. Pilot phase 2021-2023 report: nearly 2 million young people connected, 1,043 direct jobs, 2,500 indirect jobs, and 6,663 young people trained.

Phase 2 objectives: 5,000 young people towards employment and self-employment, 500 innovative entrepreneurs, 2,500 capacities strengthened, and 30,000 young people sensitized to reproductive health.

This is a call for co-investment in youth that the Minister of Youth and Civic Education launched in Douala. On September 10, 2026, at the offices of the Littoral Governor Samuel Ivaha Diboua, Mounouna Foutsou chaired a strategic meeting with business leaders and civic organizations around phase 2 of the joint Government-UN Youth Connekt Cameroon Program.



Launched in December 2019 under the high patronage of President Paul Biya, the program completed its pilot phase 2021-2023 with a report deemed significant by MINJEC.

Now it is time for phase 2, effective since 2025, with the entry of UNICEF and the United Nations Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Central Africa. The ambition is to scale up.

To achieve this, Mounouna Foutsou invited companies to join the ecosystem and to publish job offers, financing, and internship opportunities via the Youth Connekt and institutional platforms. “There is room for everyone,” he said.

A dynamic that the Minister wants to see consolidated to make young Cameroonians true actors of inclusive and sustainable development.
