Two days to calibrate the expenses for an entire year. Bringing together all actors in the budget chain, the seminar launched on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Yaoundé marks the official start of the preparation of the State budget for the 2027 fiscal year.
The theme sets the course: “Cameroon’s budget facing the challenges of strengthening the service state, public investments aimed at stimulating growth and improving the living conditions of the population.” In short, moving away from an accounting logic to enter a results-oriented logic.
Three priorities structure the decisions. First: The service state. The administration must deliver. It is about accelerating payment deadlines, digitizing procedures, and bringing services closer to users. The 2027 budget must finance ministries evaluated on their performance, not just on their credits.

Second. Invest to grow. Most of the margins will go to structuring projects. Roads, energy, water, health, and education remain at the top. But with a new requirement: optimization. No more dormant projects. The strategic framework emphasizes public investments with a strong multiplier effect on the economy and employment.
Third. Protect purchasing power. In a context of price tensions, the budget must also cushion shocks. Targeted subsidies, support for local production, social safety nets: the government wants growth to be felt in households.
