The second session of the Steering Committee (COPIL) of the Development Project of the Rapid Vocational Training Center for Industrial Trades (CFPR-MI) in Pitoa was held on May 25, 2026, in Garoua, under the chairmanship of Prudence Nkong Forchap, Secretary General of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training. This meeting brought together public administrations, technical partners, and project managers to evaluate the work undertaken.

Built in 1969, the CFPR-MI in Pitoa is now benefiting from a large modernization program supported by the Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA) program of AUDA-NEPAD. The funding, estimated at 3 million euros, is supplemented by a contribution from the State of Cameroon of nearly 2 billion FCFA.

The project includes the rehabilitation of infrastructure, acquisition of modern equipment, overhaul of training frameworks, as well as capacity building for trainers. A strategy integrating gender and disability issues is also among the priorities of the future renovated center.

The COPIL members reviewed the status of activity execution, the schedule of upcoming steps, and monitoring-evaluation mechanisms. Since January 2026, work has effectively started after several preparatory phases, including the recruitment of the company in charge of the site and the definition of technical needs.

Through this modernization, the government intends to adapt vocational training to the demands of the job market and make the CFPR-MI in Pitoa a reference hub for industrial trades in the northern part of the country.
