On the night of August 13 to 14, 2026, the National Anti-Fraud Brigade for petroleum products of MINEE, supported by the law enforcement forces, conducted a large-scale control operation in the capital and its surroundings.

The teams toured Nkoabang, Ekounou, Ekoumdoum, Van, and Nsam. They also headed to Awae, a locality identified as a strategic corridor for the clandestine transport of petroleum products.
On the ground, the observation is persistent: despite regular raids, several illicit sales sites remain active. Improvised jerrycans, barrels, and tanks continue to supply a parallel market that directly competes with authorized service stations.
Operation outcome: 928 liters of diesel seized. A seizure that sends a clear message to fraudsters. Controls are tightening and monitoring of supply and distribution circuits is intensifying.
For MINEE, the challenge goes beyond mere seizure. It is about preserving the integrity of the distribution chain and ensuring that petroleum products reach their destination in compliance with regulations.

Fraudulent diesel, often stored under dangerous conditions, poses risks to populations and causes significant revenue losses for the State. It also distorts competition for distributors who comply with standards.
“We will continue,” the Ministry states. The Yaoundé operation is just one step. Other controls are planned in the regions, aiming to sustainably reduce fraud in a sector strategic for the national economy.
The signal is therefore given: petroleum circulating outside official circuits will be tracked, seized, and the perpetrators will be held accountable.
