Monetary Cooperation: ABCA Prepares Major Guidelines for 2026

Gathered on May 7, 2026, in Dakar, the members of the Bureau of the Association of African Central Banks reviewed the priorities for this year and prepared for the next Governors’ Council scheduled for September in Kenya. A meeting to strengthen monetary cooperation on the continent.

The governor of the BEAC chaired, on May 7, 2026, in Dakar, Senegal, a meeting of the Bureau of the Association of African Central Banks (ABCA), in a context marked by persistent challenges related to inflation, financial stability, and the economic integration of the continent.

This working session made it possible to assess the progress of the organization’s 2026 roadmap and to prepare the Governors’ Council of African central banks, announced for next September in Kenya. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between monetary institutions, harmonizing financial policies, and accelerating regional integration mechanisms.



Created to promote consultation among African central banks, the ABCA plays a central role in the monetary governance of the continent. The organization supports states in modernizing payment systems, banking supervision, and coordinating exchange rate and financial stability policies.

Through its work, the association also contributes to bringing African economies closer around common goals, notably the resilience of financial markets and the consolidation of intra-African trade.
