From August 18 to 20, 2026 at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé, Minpostel brings together the digital ecosystem for the Internet Governance Forum FGI Cameroon 2026. Under the theme “From fragmentation to interoperability,” the goal is to make data the foundation of public infrastructures for a more efficient state.
Three days to piece together the Cameroonian digital landscape. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Minpostel launched the FGI Cameroon 2026 at the Palais des Congrès, the major annual event on internet governance.
The common thread of the debates is set: “From fragmentation to interoperability: Making data the foundation of public infrastructures in Cameroon.” In other words, how to ensure that administrations, local authorities, and operators speak the same digital language.

Today, each ministry, each public service often has its own database. Result: slowness, duplicates, and services that are not very accessible to citizens.
The Forum aims to break this logic. It is about setting the rules, standards, and infrastructures so that information circulates securely between health, education, finance, and civil status.
For Minpostel, the challenge goes beyond technology. It is a matter of sovereignty and public performance. In a world where data has become a strategic resource, Cameroon must be able to collect, secure, and exploit its own data to steer its policies.

Beyond experts and institutions, the FGI wants to envision a more inclusive internet. Access, security, the fight against misinformation, and the development of digital skills are on the workshop agenda.
The stated ambition is to move from a fragmented ecosystem to an integrated system. A system where a student can register online, where a patient has their medical record shared between hospitals, where an SME pays its taxes in a few clicks.
Minpostel presents this forum as the first step of a roadmap. Objective: to provide Cameroon with a governance framework that allows building interoperable, resilient, and user-centered public platforms.
The bet is placed. Making digital less fragmented to make it more useful for everyone.
