The Central Committee of Cameroon’s National Salvation Front insists that the party will not participate in the elections as decided by its president, Issa Tchriroma Bakary.

In a statement dated February 6 and signed by its interim Secretary General, Eih Moussa Firissou, the FSNC “reaffirms, with the greatest firmness and without ambiguity, its sovereign decision not to participate in the next legislative and municipal elections.” This position, adopted by the party’s president Issa Tchiroma Bakary, is the “immutable line” that the central committee of the party presents to the militants of the political formation ranked second in the presidential election of October 12, 2025.

In the same document, the central committee recalls that “the minimum conditions for a democratic, transparent, and peaceful election are not met.” Yet, it was under these same conditions that the party participated in the presidential election of October 12. However, a few months later, it intends to refuse to legitimize “a defeated regime” following the presidential election and to “validate an electoral parody whose results are already predetermined.” The FSNC, through the central committee, thus expresses its loyalty to the logic of its president.

This communication comes, however, after a statement by Issa Tchiroma Bakary’s spokesperson, who on February 5 tended to encourage the participation in the elections of certain party militants who wish to run in order to wrest local power from the Rdpc in certain constituencies.
