The decree signed by the Keeper of the Seals was made public on February 12, 2026
The Minister of State, Minister of Justice, announced the organization of the Aptitude Examination for the Bar Internship for the 2026 session, which will take place on April 18 and 19, 2026 in Yaoundé. This examination, mandatory for aspiring lawyers, validates the prior training before entering the profession.

Candidates must meet several criteria to be eligible:
Cameroonian nationality,
Enjoyment of civil rights,
Be at least 21 years old on the date of the examination,
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law or an equivalent diploma.
Candidates will need to submit a complete file including:
A stamped application and a receipt for payment of registration fees (10,000 FCFA).
A certificate of nationality, a copy of a birth certificate, a bulletin n°3 of the judicial record (less than three months old), and a letter of sponsorship from a lawyer practicing for at least five years.
A certified true copy of the required diploma, or a certificate of success.
Applications must be submitted in two copies to the Bar Association of the Order of Lawyers before March 16, 2026. The Bar Council will verify the conformity of the documents and will transmit one copy of the file to the Ministry of Justice by March 31, 2026.
The examination will be supervised by an Examination Commission composed of:
President: The President of the Bar Association
Members: Two law professors, two experienced lawyers, and two magistrates.
The Commission’s Secretariat will be responsible for administrative management, including room preparation, anonymization of copies, and coordination of tests.
The Jury, for which the presence of at least five members is required to deliberate, is responsible for grading the tests and conducting the deliberations.

The examination consists of:
Two written tests (commentary on a judgment or case study, and general knowledge)
Duration: 4 hours for each test
Coefficient: 4 for the case study and 3 for general knowledge
An oral test: a 15-minute interview with the Jury, starting after the publication of the eligibility results.
Coefficient: 2
Results are calculated out of 20, taking into account the coefficients of each test. A candidate will be declared successful if they obtain a final average of at least 12/20.
Members of the Examination Commission, as well as anyone involved in the organization and conduct of the examination, will receive allowances in accordance with current regulations.
Candidates are invited to prepare their files in due time and to ensure that they meet all the necessary conditions to participate in this crucial 2026 session.
