The digital transport promotion platform Yango and some of its partners are subject to sanctions for “promotion of illegal road transport activities.” The government, through the Ministry of Transport, issues a two-month formal notice to the platform to comply with the legal requirements related to taxi passenger transport activities operated via digital platforms.

It is required to suspend from its platform all vehicles lacking the necessary administrative documents, namely the transport license, the blue card, the registration certificate, valid insurance, technical inspection, driver’s license, and capacity certificate T. The online entity must also pay a fixed fine of 2.5 million CFA francs to the public treasury. The sanctions outlined in a statement signed by the Minister of Transport Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe concern not only the platform but also some of its partner drivers.
The government also decides to suspend for a period of three months six vehicle registrations and to immediately immobilize the vehicles concerned. These are CE 913 NR belonging to Daniel Justin Kamgain Watchueng; CE 439 PM belonging to Jimmy Tientcheu; CE 202 B to Franklin Fossi Tchinda; CE 142 NL to François Semengue Omgbwa; CE 759 OV to Linus Ngrang Mvemani; and CE 788 OM belonging to Isabel Elvira Tamze Dukoh. Each is also required to pay a fixed fine of 500,000 CFA francs to the public treasury.

In his statement, the Minister of Transport calls on illegal transporters and those wishing to operate via digital platforms to immediately comply with the provisions of decree no. 2022/PM of October 10, 2022, setting the conditions for access to the professions of road transporters and road transport auxiliaries.
