The Kamto page is turning. Who will take up the torch of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon? The closing minutes of the candidacies on September 16 reveal the trio that will face off on October 17 in Yaoundé.

Three candidates are running for the presidency of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon. Ronnie Bris Djolako is the first to take the plunge. He submitted his file on September 16 at 11:15 AM. His list is the only one with a vacant position for the 5th vice-president, a sign of a quickly assembled candidacy. He surrounds himself with Tamesse Janvier as number 2 and Ayissi Francois as secretary general, a strategic position. A profile that bets on the continuity of the apparatus.

Tiriane Balbine Nadège Noah submitted her file at 5:19 PM. She is the only female candidate for the national presidency. A symbolically strong candidacy in a party often criticized for its political machismo. She has been acting president since the resignation of the president and his first vice. She bets on a gender-balanced ticket: four men, two women in her vice-presidency with Saadou Aissatou as 5th vice-president. Her expected secretary general is Ndong Christopher Mveh. He seems close to the “renewal” wing.

Pierre Emmanuel Binyam is the last to submit his file but with the most complete list. It is the most structured and complete list on paper with eight names without vacancies. He places Boutche Jean Pierre Doualare as 1st vice-president and Kamche Wappi Célin as secretary general. A ticket that smells of organizational experience.

Notably: no list bears the name of the outgoing President, Maurice Kamto, confirming his announced withdrawal from the party presidency.

The three lists compete for eight positions: one president + 5 vice-presidents + secretary general + treasurer. The secretariat general reminds that registration does not mean validation.

See you on October 17 at Odja. Will the MRC choose experience, break, or parity?
