
Head of the Cameroonian delegation at the 70th regular session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, Minister Madeleine Tchuinté presented on September 15, 2026, before 4000 representatives from 182 countries, Cameroon’s Declaration welcoming fruitful cooperation.
In her capacity as Head of the Cameroonian Delegation to the work of the 70th regular session of the IAEA General Conference taking place from September 14 to 18, 2026 in Vienna, Austria, the Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation, Dr. Madeleine Tchuinté, presented Cameroon’s Declaration.
Before an audience of 4000 representatives from 182 countries, she praised the cooperation between Cameroon and the IAEA, emphasizing the activities carried out during the year 2026.
These notably include strengthening the legislative and regulatory framework on nuclear safety and security through Decree No. 2026/00201 of February 2, 2026, setting fees and taxes on ionizing radiation, the feasibility study on civil nuclear power, with the dual aim of ensuring energy sovereignty and aligning with the carbon neutrality goal.
She also mentioned the creation at the Douala General Hospital of a mammography unit as part of the “Ray of Hope” initiative for breast cancer screening, and the support of the IAEA via ASRAN during Pope Leo XIV’s visit from April 15 to 18, 2026.
On behalf of the Government, MINRESI renewed Cameroon’s gratitude to the IAEA for its support in developing the national nuclear safety infrastructure.
