The Special Intercommunal Equipment and Intervention Fund (Feicom) is stepping up its pace in response to the climate emergency. More than 10 billion FCFA have just been released to finance green projects in Cameroonian municipalities.

Meeting in its 2nd session on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Feicom headquarters in Yaoundé, the Financial Competitions Committee for Municipalities dedicated to the Climate Window (CCFF-C), under the chairmanship of Director General Philippe Camille AKOA, made a strong impact. The Committee granted a total envelope of 10,110,000,000 FCFA (ten billion one hundred ten million) to 79 municipalities spread across the ten (10) regions of Cameroon.

This money will finance concrete projects for mitigation and adaptation measures to climate change. The 79 projects were selected following a call for projects launched on June 24, 2026, and closed on August 7, 2026. To be eligible, the Decentralized Territorial Collectivities (CTD) had to address one of the four priority issues identified by Feicom: forests and biodiversity; energy mix; waste management and valorization; infrastructure, water, and sanitation.

In its final statement dated August 27 and made public on September 16, the Committee welcomed “the involvement of the Decentralized Territorial Collectivities (CTD) in this innovative program.”

However, the members of the CCFF-C noted the need to “continue raising awareness for these entities to identify appropriate responses to the risks and challenges imposed by climate change, for the benefit of their populations.”

With this Climate Window, Feicom, certified ISO 9001/14001/45001, confirms its role as the financial arm of decentralization and positions municipalities at the forefront of the fight against floods, deforestation, and energy poverty affecting the country.
