It is on this upward momentum that Yaoundé and London want to capitalize with a future economic mission to the United Kingdom.
The Minister of Commerce, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, received on September 7, 2026, the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E. Matthew David Woods. On the agenda: the preparation of a Cameroonian economic mission to the United Kingdom scheduled for next December.

The initiative, led by the British side, aims to move from institutional dialogue to concrete business opportunities. “Great Britain thought of the Minister of Commerce to lead this mission,” said the diplomat.
On the Cameroonian side, the goal is to mobilize companies, GIEs, and public institutions carrying projects requiring financing, technologies, and industrial partnerships. The priority sectors identified are energy, infrastructure, agriculture, agro-industry, and local processing.
This direction fits within the structural transformation strategy of the economy advocated by the Ministry of Commerce. The aim is to create more added value and jobs locally.

This mission will rely on the Cameroon-United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreement, which came into force on July 9, 2021, after Brexit, guaranteeing duty-free and quota-free access to the British market for eligible Cameroonian products.
The Ministry of Commerce services must send a first list of companies and projects to the High Commission this week to prepare the ground.
