The investigations opened after his arrest on June 12, 2026, led to the formulation of charges for which the justice system will prosecute him. He is indeed charged with “attempted threat to state security with the complicity of foreign powers.”

The events date back to June 12, 2026, when a young Cameroonian entered the radio house in the Nlongkak neighborhood, holding a folder containing appointment acts attributed to the head of state. These acts turned out to be fake presidential decrees appointing a vice president of the Republic and a new government. The vigilance of CRTV officials prevented the content of the texts from being broadcast to the public. They contacted the presidency of the Republic for confirmation.
However, the closest collaborators of the head of state did not recognize these acts. The fake agent was arrested. This was followed by a period of preliminary investigation and interrogation of the bearer of the fake decrees at the State Secretariat for Defense, leading to his detention in prison.

It all began while the president of the Republic had left Yaoundé five days earlier for a short private stay in Europe. Upon leaving the capital, the president left a country awaiting the appointment of government members, an appointment announced since the end of 2025. The wait was also for the appointment of a vice president, a position established by the new revision of the Constitution in April 2026. In this context of waiting, the fake decrees almost plunged Cameroon into an “institutional crisis.”
