Roger Mbassa Ndine has issued a public communication to remind people of the measures to be respected to avoid sanctions provided for by the regulations.

As part of the efforts to clean up the mototaxi sector and professionalize this sector in the city of Douala, the city mayor is launching a compliance control operation aimed at ensuring respect for certain measures. Starting April 02, 2026, municipal police officers and ambassadors of Good Urban Order will carry out unannounced checks in traffic zones in the Akwa, Bali, and Bonapriso neighborhoods.

The purpose of this operation is to verify drivers’ compliance with certain requirements. Priority will be given to commercial mototaxi drivers operating outside the regulatory tax documents required in the profession. They are required to present the certificate of enrollment in the mototaxi sector cleanup program or any other proof of the driver’s integration into the enrollment platform. The mayor also includes the wearing of the approved vest issued by the Douala City Council. This measure was taken to ensure visual identification certifying the authorization to practice and facilitating recognition by law enforcement officers.

Also, for personal mototaxi drivers, they are required to present valid regulatory documents, including the driver’s license corresponding to the motorcycle category, its duly established registration card, and a valid insurance certificate.

Motorcycle drivers who do not comply with these already known measures face sanctions. The regulations in force provide for the immediate impounding of the motorcycle and the obligation of prior regularization before the release of the seizure and its return. This is the warning issued by the city mayor in his communication of March 30, 2026.
