From July 14 to 16, 2026. At the Central Library of the University of Dschang, Master’s students in Information and Communication Sciences defended their work.
All built around the triptych “Territories, Heritage, and Cultural Industries,” the signature of the program designed by Prof. Alexandre Djimeli. From the 2025 electoral communication to influencers on social networks, the research explores Cameroonian realities with digital tools.

At the University of Dschang, the 2026 batch of Research Master’s in ICS wanted to mark its difference. For three days, from July 14 to 16, 2026, the students defended theses resolutely focused on the local.
This uniqueness is no accident. According to Prof. Alexandre Djimeli, conductor of the program, the goal from the start was to distinguish the products of UDs. Result: students and supervisors work around the same triptych: “Territories, Heritage, and Cultural Industries.”
The territorial anchoring largely inspired the work. Trésor Ndipatchou Ndjajeu analyzed “The local in the digital communication of candidates for the 2025 presidential election in Cameroon.”
In the same vein, Annaëlle Gladis Yumdom Fotso focused on “Territorial communication in a crisis context” and the mobilization speeches of mayors of the West on social networks during the 2025 electoral crisis.
Rina Myris Kuissu Tienou studied “Digital communication and brand image building of local NGOs” through the case of TOCKEM.
The second axis explores memory, language, and resources.
Narcisse Stelle Ngnintedem Kaze worked on “Digital technologies and enhancement of local dialects” with the case of the circulation of Camfranglais on Facebook.
Danielle Mache Njondzo showed how “Identity communication and labeling” build the symbolic value of Koutaba rice.
Finally, Orlane Nganka addressed a current issue: “Between linguistic diversity and social cohesion,” studying intercultural communication for the integration of displaced persons from the Anglophone crisis in Dschang.

The last part examines the transformations of media and arts in the digital age.
Elfred Kevine Seudjo Sawouo was interested in “Radio facing the rise of digitalization” taking the case of Radio Yemba 98.0 FM in Dschang.
Armel Njeng Mbong proposed “A reading from the West region” on the dissemination of plastic arts in the era of technological transition.
The thesis that most challenged the jury is that of Narcisse Nansong: “Visibility and social normalization of prostitution in the digital age: case of Cameroonian digital influencers.” A critical analysis of a phenomenon dominating the news in cyberspace.
Beyond the topics, a method emerges: closely observing recent and locally relevant phenomena. For the University of Dschang, it is also a response to the era of artificial intelligence capable of writing entire theses. Originality here lies in the fieldwork.
With this approach, UDs intends to offer the international ICS community research that is rooted but connected to the global challenges of digital technology.
