A recent press release from the president of Transparency Cameroon (TI-C), Me Henri Njoh Manga, clarifies the terms of the collaboration between his organization and the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH).
A statement by Me Akere Muna, a politician and former vice-president of Transparency International dated March 05, 2026, questions a collaboration between Transparency International Cameroon and the SNH. In this document, the founder of TI-C uses a meeting held on February 27, 2026, between the non-governmental organization and the SNH as a pretext to question an alleged collaboration between the SNH and TI-C, of which he claims to have no knowledge regarding its existence, framework, funding, or objectives.

The international lawyer has relentlessly denounced acts of corruption at the SNH in recent years, relying on the Glencore case. He expresses concerns about governance and transparency in the extractive sector. Thus, in his statement, he calls on the Cameroonian branch of Transparency International to convene an extraordinary general assembly to clarify the engagement with the SNH.
In response, the president of TI-C, Me Henri Njoh Manga, did not yield to Me Akere Muna’s injunction. Instead, he issued a press release to clarify the alleged collaboration with the SNH. First, TI-C points out that the positions taken by individuals who no longer hold executive or deliberative functions and are engaged in partisan political activities in no way commit the responsibility or strategy of the organization’s national section.

Next, the lawyer specifies that the SNH requested TI-C for a governance diagnosis following other technical interventions deployed in other administrations and major companies. This collaboration aims to lead public institutions toward increased transparency through the rigorous auditing of procedures. To this end, the organization provides assurance that this collaboration respects protocols guaranteeing autonomy of judgment and also ensures that this collaboration will not interfere with the legal proceedings related to the Glencore case.
Finally, TI-C states that it remains faithful to its principles of rigor, independence, and impartiality, thus calling on its members, partners, and the general public not to give in to confusion and escalation.
