Two days of consultation in Bertoua allowed UNHCR and the University of Bertoua to operationalize the memorandum of understanding signed last April. Objective: to transform the institutional alliance into concrete opportunities for training, research, and inclusion for refugees and host communities in the East.
The partnership between UNHCR and the University of Bertoua is moving up a gear. Gathered for two days, the two institutions completed the development of their joint action plan.

On the agenda: nine structural axes. The establishment of a joint monitoring committee, access for refugees and host communities to priority training, the development of professional internships, and support for research with the creation of an observatory of migratory dynamics.
The plan also provides for the organization of legal clinics and joint seminars, strengthening documentary assistance and the production of evidence-based data, as well as extending university library services to the Garoua-Boulaï Multipurpose Center, the epicenter of the reception of Central African refugees.
At the end of the work, six priority points were selected for immediate implementation. The two parties also intend to position the University of Bertoua as a national center of expertise on international protection and forced displacement.
