“It is absolutely true that France, which was not consulted and is not part of this military offensive launched by the United States and Israel, is not taking part in it,” he said during his visit to Japan, according to the French news channel BFMTV.

The day before, Mr. Trump had written on his Truth Social network that France had been “very uncooperative” in the military operations led by the United States in Iran, adding that “the United States will remember it.”

In this message, he also indicated that France had not authorized planes bound for Israel, carrying military equipment, to fly over its territory.

According to the daily Le Parisien, the Elysée said it was “surprised” by Mr. Trump’s reproaches. “We confirm this decision, which is consistent with the French position since the beginning of the conflict,” the presidency told the press, adding that “France has not changed its position since the first day.”

BFMTV reported on March 5 that American military support aircraft had been authorized at the Istres air base in southern France. However, France demanded that the assets concerned do not participate in any way in the operations led by the United States in Iran and be used strictly for the defense support of its partners in the region.
