The National Social Security Fund (CNPS) disbursed more than 38.4 billion FCFA in social benefits in the first quarter of 2026, compared to just over 35 billion a year earlier.

Pensions accounted for the bulk of payments with 32.6 billion FCFA paid to 119,407 beneficiaries, while family benefits reached 5.1 billion FCFA for 84,400 recipients. The occupational risks branch mobilized 788 million FCFA.

The payment dynamics observed within the CNPS reflect a gradual scaling up of the Cameroonian social protection system. Between January and March 2026, old-age, disability, and death pensions recorded an increase compared to the same period in 2025, when 31.3 billion FCFA had been paid to 115,268 beneficiaries.
According to the CNPS, this evolution is driven by the mechanical revaluation of pensions under the new scheme as well as the adjustment of matured old pensions.
Family benefits show the strongest growth. The amounts paid rose from 3.7 billion FCFA to 5.1 billion FCFA in one year, with a significant increase in the number of recipients, now estimated at 84,400 compared to 49,231 previously. These payments notably cover family allowances and certain maternity-related benefits.
On the occupational risks side, 788 million FCFA were disbursed for 3,887 beneficiaries, representing an 11.1% increase in payments despite a slight decrease in the number of cases processed.
The organization also highlights the effects of digitizing procedures. The average processing time for family benefits has thus decreased from 85 to 79 minutes, a sign of progressive improvement in administrative management.
