Cameroon: Grégoire Owona new president of the CNOSC

The politician, Minister of Labor and Social Security, Grégoire Owona, takes the lead of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon after the death of Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum.

The chapter of Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum is definitively closed at the head of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon. After spending 23 years there and following his death on May 13, the position he left vacant is filled as of May 25. At the end of the extraordinary session of the CNOSC board of directors today at the institution’s headquarters, Minister Grégoire Owona, who held the position of 1st vice-president, is appointed president of the committee.

The new president will manage the committee until the holding of the elective General Assembly in accordance with article 70 of the CNOSC statutes. He receives the mandate to carry out all acts of administration, management, and disposition related to his function.



Monday’s board of directors session resulted in a new configuration of the CNOSC executive office. Mrs. Célestine Odette Ntsama Assembe Epse Engoulou becomes vice-president, Ibrahim Talba Mala 2nd vice-president. The position of 3rd vice-president is vacant. It will be filled during a board of directors session. David Ojong holds the position of secretary general while Louis Majoré Timba is the treasurer general.

Created on May 25, 1963, the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon represents the International Olympic Committee in the country. It works to promote the Olympic ideal in Cameroon, which emphasizes values such as excellence, friendship, and respect. The committee also supports athlete preparation and fights against doping.
