As the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference approaches, Cameroon is accelerating its diplomatic mobilization. On March 11, 2026, the Minister of External Relations met with the entire diplomatic corps accredited to Yaoundé to share a strategic communication on the preparations for this global trade meeting.
Scheduled for March 26 to 29 at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé, the conference will bring together more than 4,000 delegates from World Trade Organization member states, as well as representatives from international organizations, the private sector, and civil society. The event marks a historic first for Central Africa, strengthening Cameroon’s role in debates on trade multilateralism.
During this meeting, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, surrounded by several members of the government, presented the stakes of the expected negotiations, in an international context marked by trade tensions and questions about the future of the multilateral system. He also detailed the logistical and security arrangements put in place to ensure the smooth running of the conference.
Delivered in French and English, the diplomatic communication calls on foreign representations to relay the priorities and expectations related to this conference to their capitals. For the Cameroonian authorities, the organization of this global meeting illustrates the country’s leadership within the WTO and its capacity to host major international events.
