As the next electoral deadlines approach in Cameroon, the organization Actions for Development and Empowerment is organizing civic technology initiation days in the city of Yaoundé.

The operation aims to promote the VoteCam mobile application, a tool designed to provide information on elections and allow people to report irregularities. During this outreach campaign from July 24 to 25, the organization’s teams are deploying in markets and high-concentration areas to raise awareness among traders, youth, and women to reach as many people as possible.

Specifically, the application makes it easy to find the nearest voter registration centers; access civic content, verify and receive real-time alerts; explore candidate profiles, details, and programs. The VoteCam program also offers the possibility to report observed irregularities and cases of fraud during elections.

The executive director of ADE, Ndi Nancy Saiboh, specifies that VoteCam does not replace Elecam and all institutions involved in organizing elections. “Elecam remains the only official body responsible for organizing elections in Cameroon,” she reminds. The application relies on data from this body as an official source. It also maintains its organization and has explicitly refused to associate with political parties to preserve its neutrality.

Regarding user security and confidentiality, the head of Actions for Development and Empowerment assures that people’s data is an absolute priority given the sensitivity of the subject. An internal team rigorously verifies all information before publication to avoid misinformation.

The organization notes that, although over 8.2 million voters were registered before the October 2025 presidential election (ELECAM), a significant portion of the voting-age population remains disengaged. Limited access to reliable electoral information, widespread misinformation, political apathy, and a weak digital civic culture continue to hinder significant participation. They believe this application is a necessary tool to support Cameroonians.
