The municipality of the eponymous town, in the East region, is taking a new step in its development with the inauguration of a Municipal City intended to improve the reception conditions for public officials and to strengthen State action at the local level.
The hope announced for 2025 is gradually materializing in the Haut-Nyong department. In Mindourou, the official opening of a Municipal City marks a concrete step forward for decentralization and for the improvement of the living conditions of civil servants called to serve in the municipality.
The key handover ceremony was presided over on March 16, 2025, by the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam, in the presence of several members of the government from the East region, notably Joseph Le, Minister of the Civil Service, and Armand Njodom, Secretary of State to the Minister of Public Works. Their presence gave a particular significance to this event, presented as a symbol of cooperation between the central State and local authorities.
With this achievement, Mindourou becomes the 87th town to benefit from the Municipal Cities Construction Program (PCCM), currently in its second phase. The initiative aims to provide decent housing for administrative executives to facilitate their installation and improve the quality of public service in the municipalities.
The project is part of a dynamic that is set to continue. A budget of 30 billion FCFA has indeed been mobilized by the Crédit Foncier du Cameroun to finance the third phase of the program, in partnership with FEICOM.
For local authorities, the benefits go beyond the issue of housing alone. Thanks to annual grants of approximately 100 million FCFA awarded to municipalities by MINDDEVEL, the municipality intends to continue its investments in education, health, and basic infrastructure.
In Mindourou, decentralization is thus gradually translated into visible achievements close to the population.
