Meeting in Yaoundé, BUCREP and the United Nations System agencies have harmonized their communication strategy to support the dual population and agriculture census scheduled from April 24 to May 29, 2026.

On Monday, March 16, 2026, at the UNFPA headquarters in Yaoundé, members of the Task Force in charge of census communication met to coordinate the support of the United Nations System in Cameroon for the communication strategy of the 4th General Population and Housing Census (RGPH) and the General Census of Agriculture and Livestock (RGAE).
This meeting brought together representatives from BUCREP and several UN agencies, including the UNFPA–FAO duo, technical partners in the process, with the expertise of IFORD and the support of the United Nations System, including the CNUDHD-AC. Together, they are supporting the Cameroonian State in preparing this vast statistical operation which will take place across the entire national territory.
The discussions allowed for the presentation of the outlines of this twin census and, above all, the examination of the communication and social mobilization action plan developed by the communicators of the various stakeholders. The objective is clear: to generate massive public support for this operation of national interest.
Because beyond the statistical exercise, the challenge is to transform the census into a true act of citizenship. In a context marked by multiple political, economic, security, and technological challenges, public trust remains essential.
Informing, reassuring, and explaining: this is the mission assigned to census communication. Behind the numbers lies a broader ambition: to better understand the population and agricultural realities in order to plan public policies and ensure a more equitable distribution of infrastructure and services. After all, every person counts and must be counted.
