The Minister of Public Health Malachie Manaouda has just received the Ambassador of Turkey, Volkan Öskiper, and the Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, Amnon Kalmar. The agenda of the discussions was the improvement of the health system and the conditions for patient care.
The two visits to the Ministry of Public Health are promising. The Ambassador of Israel, H.E. Amnon Kalmar, carries his country’s project, a partner of Cameroon, to renovate and modernize the Essong district hospital in the Obala municipality. The said project thus provides for the rehabilitation of infrastructures, the installation of solar panels, the acquisition of new pediatric, maternity, and radiology equipment.

Furthermore, during the inauguration of the renovated health facility, specialists from Cameroon and Israel will provide free healthcare. This social component also includes the distribution of school supplies to children. The government, through the Minister of Public Health, Malachie Manaouda, approved the Israeli project for the benefit of the Essong health facility during a meeting on August 10. Now remains the implementation of the initiative for the benefit of the populations and the Cameroonian health system.
As part of the improvement of the same health system, Cameroon and Turkey, another partner, intend to strengthen their medical partnership. The Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, H.E. Volkan Öskiper, and the Minister of Public Health Malachie Manaouda exchanged views on August 10 at the ministry regarding the signing of a memorandum of understanding. According to the Ministry of Public Health, the partnership will bring changes in the collaboration between the two countries.
The memorandum will trigger the translation into concrete actions on the ground of project ideas. This will be within the framework of continuous training of health personnel, sharing of medical expertise, development of new strategic and innovative cooperation axes. Everything should contribute in the future to tying the terms of a win-win partnership for the benefit of improving the quality of care and medical management of patients in Cameroon.
