The opening of the 8th edition of the Salon du Génie et Talent de l’Etudiant Camerounais is scheduled for August 11, 2026, at Independence Square in Yaoundé. Presided over by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, the ceremony will highlight 22 young entrepreneurs who have received funding and the opportunities of the University-business partnership. Objective: to make the campus a breeding ground for start-ups.

On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Independence Square will host the official opening of the 8th edition of the Salon du Génie et Talent de l’Etudiant Camerounais, GETEC 2026. The ceremony will be presided over by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, in the presence of other Government members.
This edition is firmly focused on implementing two major reforms: the concept of University-business partnership and the National Status of the Student Entrepreneur.
GETEC 2026 aims to “highlight successful models of student entrepreneurship.” To illustrate the Government’s support, a cohort of 22 entrepreneurs who benefited from direct funding following the last edition will be presented to the public. This is an opportunity to showcase concrete journeys, from idea to prototype, then to the junior enterprise.
The fair will also be a showcase for innovations driven by the student population: prototypes, technological projects, social solutions. The goal is to create a direct meeting between students with projects and leaders from professional sectors.
Another highlight: the presentation of the benefits derived from the GETEC brand. The label has been aligned with international standards in terms of norms, quality, and taxation. A strategy to give more credibility to student projects and facilitate their scaling up.
This 8th edition is part of the continuity of the orientation law of July 25, 2023, which “sanctuarizes the innovative concepts of University-business partnership and Student entrepreneur.”
For several days, Yaoundé becomes the capital of youth innovation. Between exhibitions, panels, and B2B meetings, the message is clear: the Cameroonian campus no longer just trains graduates, it creates wealth creators.
