As part of the Joint Review of the Education and Vocational Training Sector, public authorities and technical partners have drawn up an inventory of the Cameroonian education system. The stated objective is to accelerate reforms to better meet the challenges of training and employment.
The future of the Cameroonian education system was at the heart of discussions on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Yaoundé. The 2026 edition of the Joint Review of the Education and Vocational Training Sector brought together key government officials and international partners around a common imperative: to evaluate the sector’s performance and define priorities for future reforms.

The meeting, coordinated by the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), with UNICEF, lead technical and financial partner, also mobilized the ministries in charge of Basic Education, Secondary Education, Higher Education, Youth, Employment and Vocational Training, as well as Scientific Research.
At the heart of the work, the presentation of overall performance and results recorded in each sub-sector allowed for a diagnosis of the education system. While progress was noted, participants also highlighted the main obstacles hindering the improvement of the quality of education, vocational training, and youth integration.

Beyond the assessment, this review aims to serve as a guiding framework for strengthening public policies in favor of human capital development. The recommendations resulting from the discussions should contribute to making schools and vocational training levers for economic growth and competitiveness for Cameroon.
