In four years, revenues from liquefied natural gas have almost been halved, reflecting a lasting slowdown in this key source of foreign currency.

Cameroon’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) export revenues confirm their downward trend. In 2025, they stood at 350,2 billion FCFA, down 8,1 % year-on-year, according to the latest foreign trade report from the National Institute of Statistics. This level is the lowest recorded since 2022.

Beyond the annual evolution alone, the data highlights a continuous decline in revenues over the last four years. After a peak of 622 billion FCFA in 2022, revenues fell to 421 billion in 2023, then to 381 billion in 2024, before eroding further in 2025. In the space of three years, the country has thus lost nearly half of its revenues from LNG.
