The West region is on alert. A case of Mpox (Monkeypox) has been confirmed by the Pasteur Center in the Bafang health district, prompting immediate mobilization of health authorities. In an official correspondence dated April 24, 2026, the Regional Delegate of the Ministry of Public Health urges health officials to immediately intensify epidemiological surveillance throughout the affected territory.
Faced with the risk of spread, district heads are urged to strengthen active case finding, both in health facilities and at the community level. Rapid notification of any suspected eruptive fever is now an operational priority.

The message also emphasizes the need to strictly apply infection prevention and control measures in healthcare facilities. At the same time, increased public awareness is recommended to better inform about the signs of the disease, its modes of transmission, and preventive actions.
Health authorities remind that technical tools and reference documents related to Mpox are available in dedicated surveillance channels. The Epidemiological Control Program team for the West region remains mobilized to support districts in implementing these directives.
