Faced with the rising energy needs of the Autonomous Port of Kribi (PAK), the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency (ARSEL) carried out an inspection mission on site. Objective: to assess the existing infrastructure and define the necessary measures to ensure a more reliable power supply adapted to the ambitions of this strategic platform.
Responding to a referral from the Autonomous Port of Kribi, ARSEL conducted a technical visit on July 13, 2026, to the electrical installations of the port complex to assess their capacity to support the growth of activities. This approach is part of the public authorities’ desire to strengthen the energy infrastructure of the country’s major projects.

The mission took place in the presence of PAK officials, KPZI, as well as the Cameroonian Electricity Distribution Company (SOCAD’EL), represented by its deputy general manager, Mr. Ekobena. The discussions identified several areas for improvement regarding the reliability, safety, and continuity of electricity supply.
At the end of the working session, the different parties agreed to revise the agreement linking PAK to SOCAD’EL. This update should result in a new contract, better suited to the current needs of the port and the requirements of its future development.

Through this initiative, ARSEL reaffirms its role as a supporter of Cameroon’s major infrastructure projects, ensuring the establishment of an efficient, secure, and sustainable electrical system, essential for the competitiveness of the Autonomous Port of Kribi and national economic development.
