Iran warned on Monday of “far more devastating” and large-scale retaliation if its civilian targets were to be the subject of further attacks.

“If attacks on civilian targets are repeated, the next phases of our offensive and retaliatory operations will be far more devastating and extensive,” said a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had threatened to destroy Iranian civilian infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz remained closed.



Furthermore, Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, warned on Sunday that the resistance front could target the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

“If the White House plans to repeat its stupid mistakes, it will soon realize that global energy and trade flows can be disrupted with a simple signal,” Mr. Velayati said on social media, referring to the possible closure of this waterway.

Connecting the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait is a crucial bottleneck for maritime traffic between the Atlantic, the Indian Ocean, and the Mediterranean.
