The National Strategic Health Research Plan (Psnrs) 2026-2030 was presented on September 1, 2026, in Yaoundé. It is entering its implementation phase.
A new decision support and health action improvement tool is being introduced into the existing system. The National Public Health Strategic Plan (Psnrs) aims to strengthen health research and better integrate the knowledge produced into decision-making. Through this tool, the goal is to ensure the use of knowledge derived from research in the formulation and implementation of public policies.

With an estimated budget of 2.533 billion FCFA for its implementation, the plan focuses on several areas. These include strengthening governance, research ethics, and the use of evidence in decision-making. Added to this are the institutionalization of a research culture within the health system and the sustainable mobilization of funding, according to the Ministry of Public Health.
This plan brings innovations to the already existing health research system. It intends to integrate other levels of structures from which research can originate. Without excluding central administrations, universities, and specialized institutes, it associates realities observed in regions, health districts, health facilities, and communities. With this plan, health districts will be able to conduct observations, innovate, learn, and carry out operational research, according to the same source.

The entry into the implementation phase of this plan coincides with the official launch of the Digital Documentation Center for the health sector. A virtual library in the field, it will help centralize, preserve, organize, and make more accessible reports, studies, technical documents, and other scientific productions. Launched on September 1st, 2026, in Yaoundé, health professionals, researchers, decision-makers, and other health sector actors can access it via the address cdnss-minsante.cm.
