During the discussions, several strategic areas were addressed, including the training of local governance actors, the development of research applied to decentralization, and the promotion of social cohesion and sustainable territorial development. These themes are central to the reforms undertaken in Cameroon to strengthen the effectiveness of public action at the local level.
This meeting is a continuation of the academic ties established between NASLA and the University of Fribourg, materialized by the signing of a cooperation agreement in 2024. This partnership aims to foster exchanges of expertise, knowledge production, and capacity building in areas related to territorial governance.
For NASLA, this visit demonstrates Switzerland’s constant interest in decentralization and local development issues in Cameroon. The institution intends to continue this dynamic of collaboration to consolidate its role in training territorial executives and supporting local public policies.
