On August 14, 2026, at the National Museum, the Minister of Arts and Culture received in audience Vijay Khanduja, High Commissioner of India to Cameroon, with the aim of giving new momentum to an old cooperation, focusing on Indian expertise in the repatriation of cultural property.
The cultural friendship between Yaoundé and New Delhi is entering a new phase. During an audience held in the conviviality room of the National Museum, the Minister of Arts and Culture and the High Commissioner of India to Cameroon took stock and identified new avenues.
On the agenda: expert exchange programs, training of Cameroonian restorers and conservators, joint pilot projects for the restoration of sites and emblematic objects, and film co-productions.
India, which has successfully repatriated several cultural goods illegally exported, will serve as a model. “Its experience is a valuable source of inspiration for Cameroon,” emphasized the Minister of Arts and Culture.
The ties are not recent. It was in New Delhi that the inscription of two Cameroonian cultural elements on the UNESCO list was announced. And Cameroon celebrated here the inscription of the Indian Festival of Lights.
To make this concrete, the Minister reassured his guest: a technical team will be mobilized to implement these projects.

The audience ended on an artistic note. After the exchange of gifts, the National Ballet paid tribute to the Indian diplomat with rhythms inspired by India and dances from the four cultural areas of Cameroon.
A cooperation that now aims to be more concrete, more operational, and focused on the enhancement of heritage.
