Passing through the North region, the head of German Cooperation in Cameroon, Knut Gummert, exchanged with administrative authorities and technical partners on conservation and sustainable development issues.

Cooperation between Cameroon and Germany is reaching a new stage. On a working mission in the North region, the head of German Cooperation, Knut Gummert, was received today by the Secretary General of the Governor’s services, Joseph Densou, representing the Governor who was unable to attend.
This audience, extended to close collaborators of the regional administration, technical partners as well as NGO representatives, allowed for the discussion of strategic issues related to the conservation of natural resources and sustainable development in the region. The exchanges notably focused on strengthening protected area management mechanisms and consolidating joint actions in the face of environmental challenges.
Particular emphasis was placed on the implementation of cross-border commitments, specifically the anti-poaching protocol. The various speakers called for an intensification of sub-regional cooperation to curb illegal wildlife trafficking and preserve biodiversity.
At the end of the institutional meeting, the head of German Cooperation went into the field to visit several flagship projects funded by his institution in the North. These initiatives are part of a dynamic of support for local development, sustainable resource management, and improving the living conditions of the populations.
The official working visit will conclude tomorrow morning with a press conference during which the main orientations and perspectives of German-Cameroonian cooperation in the region should be specified.
