Me Akere Muna’s special advisor has rejoined Samuel Hiram Iyodi’s party on the eve of the legislative and municipal elections.

The celebration of the 60th edition of Youth Day on February 11, 2026, provided an opportunity for certain political actors to affirm or reaffirm their political positioning. Paul Mahel, a journalist, communicator, and advisor to politician Akere Muna since 2018, declares his adherence to the Patriotic Movement for the Prosperity of the People (MP3), a political party chaired by Samuel Hiram Iyodi, a candidate in the presidential election of October 12, 2025. He marched in the municipality of Dibamba, his hometown, in honor of the young Cameroonians within this political party, whose president made a statement on February 11 to call for potential candidates for the local and legislative elections.

Paul Mahel, a former journalist for Canal 2 international and Vox Africa, reveals on February 12 the reasons why he is campaigning for the MP3. He justifies his free choice by “an ideological convergence with its leader and a shared vision on the management of public affairs and the involvement of youth in the political game.” And that’s not all. Having political ambitions at the local level, the now politician was therefore looking for a starting point from which he could express himself effectively. Under the banner of the MP3, he will be “a candidate for the next municipal elections in the Dibamba district.”

As a man of the field, accustomed to the public in his capacity as a journalist and communicator, he thus aims to enter the municipal council of the Dibamba commune. This entry will open the doors for him to hold the position of mayor, whose main job is to develop the locality. However, by joining Samuel Hiram Iyodi’s party, Paul Mahel is not abandoning Akere Muna. He remains, he says, his special advisor. In the coming months, the people of Dibamba will see their son become more involved, on the ground, in political activities as he did this February 11 alongside hundreds of young people to whom he says, “this is our moment.”
