The health facility declares that the patient in question is being cared for under the instruction of the Minister of Public Health Malachie Manaouda.

All arrangements have been made at the Yaoundé General Hospital for optimal care of the young Cameroonian whose images have gone viral on social media. Admitted to this health facility on July 13, 2026, the patient has since benefited from specialized care. The care provided is entirely free. His care continues under better conditions by a multidisciplinary team of specialists, mobilized to give him every chance of recovery.

Thus reassures the Director General of the Yaoundé General Hospital through a statement made public on June 15, 2026, and signed by the head of the communication unit Frédéric Moutome.

The document partly recalls the facts made public via social media a few days ago but stops at the level of accusations. A patient, filmed by his relatives, appears in the video in a worrying state of health. He has an opening in the abdomen, which discharges secretions. His opening would have been the result of previous operations, a long wait, and the lack of dressing in accordance with timing.

Faced with the situation, he was forced to dress his own wound despite the risks and danger he faced. Given the geographical situation, he is at the Yaoundé Emergency Center (Cury) where, according to relatives’ explanations, he was neglected, abandoned to his own fate.

Once online, the video sparked outrage against the Cameroonian health system. Immediately, the health authorities gave no news. But on July 15, the Yaoundé General Hospital tries to reassure the public about the care of the patient and the attention that the Minister of Public Health himself is paying to the situation, which still raises concerns among the population.
